By far the best option to get your CDL in Northern California
I thought there was not a clear difference in schools when I first started looking. Having learned at 160 and seeing what other schools produce, 160 is hands down the best and most interested in furthering their students careers. Classroom: Joe in the classroom was my first experience and he cared more than I thought a school could. Joe ran the classroom and made the beginning process extremely easy. He answered all questions and made sure we had the tools in the classroom that we needed. I have have stopped by a few times to see him, just to say HI. Training Yard: The yard is large and private. There is room and time to make learning easy and accessible. As they say in the classroom, this is your license, you have to make the difference for you. Ray, David, and James gave me all of the tips and information to make sure I was successful. They care and want to produce competent Class A drivers. They too answered all questions and made learning easy. They have an amazing amount of patience, as learning to drive and operate a full sleeper tractor and a full 48' ft trailer is not easy. The day I tested, the dmv had just reopened due to COVID. It was also during the worst winter storm that Northern California has seen in quite some time. The examiners were out for blood. Out of 32 students, only 3 of us passed to get our CDL's. The two others were driving box trucks (class B). I was the only one that received their Class A. I even had form D for pre-trip, and my truck was at least 30' longer than the other schools. I passed with flying colors and with confidence due to the instruction from my instructors. The other schools had small day cab trucks (6spds) with 27' flatbed trailers. THAT IS NOT A BIG RIG. They promise you can pass and get your CDL. Well, 29 out of 29 could NOT! A couple of their instructors even stated that being in such a large truck (160 Driving Academy students) it is harder to pass. HA! Yes, it is harder for them because at 160 Driving Academy, we are BIG RIG WRANGLERS, TRACTOR TRAILER TRANSPORTERS, CONVOY COWBOYS, 18 WHEELER HEELERS. WE ARE TRUCK DRIVERS. That day it showed me how ridiculous it would be to try and go from a small truck/trailer to attempting to operate a full sleeper and 53' trailer....... 160 Driving Academy is the only way to go!!!! Thank you to Joe, Ray, David, Julie, Jose, Ed, and James.
Student review
Over great experience with 160 driving academy, and 160 has the best instructors in the stockton yard. With those two instructors, I wouldn't be a UPS Feeder driver today. I will always be thankful for them and 160. A+ rating and will recommend friends.
Great 160 Academy
I had a great experience in 160 drive academy , office manager Galinda Miller was great helpful provide all tools for us to learn , Teachers in The yard Denise Hesse and Grent Michell were great teachers helpful and they provide all good tools for us to succeed , They were organized professionals I will recommend 160 drive academy to my friends and anybody that i know
Best truck school
My axperience at 160 was honestly Very good school
Instructors have decades of combined experience
My experience at 160 driving academy was overall great. There were a few bumps in the road (much pun haha) along the way, but they were always professional and made sure to focus in on any weaknesses you may have as a student. Each instructor brought something to the experience. Heather was spot on with the pre trip, Kelly was awesome at shifting and I learned to float gears with no prior experience driving a manual, Tim perfected my down shifting and Pat was the maneuver whisperer. I passed my skills/road test on the first try with confidence because I was totally prepared by this awesome team. Sidenote, you do still need to double clutch for the road test, but on the road, it's not always possible or even necessary to do so. I got real world knowledge and advice from a team of REAL truckers who have been there and done that. I thank them for everything and I still can't believe it's already over. I would recommend 160 driving academy to anybody in the Detroit area looking to obtain their CDL.
Great Place to Learn and Great Instructors and Staff
I have to say that my experience at 160 Driver Academy was one of the best decisions I made in my life. The instructors Rawley, Chip, George, Jimmy, and Scotty were all wonderful they were patient and very knowledgeable about their profession and they never put you down they were very professional. Troy Pollard was the best choice for your company he was fair and friendly and very professional also. I have and will always direct anyone thinking of becoming a CDL operator to attend 160 Driving Academy in OKC because these guys ROCK.
Very good
I appreciate The kindness the teacher gave me while they taught me everything I needed to know. The course was fairly difficult, but when done, it taught you well, and gave you all the possible information you could want about truck driving.

Best option out there!
I was amazed by how much I would have to learn, in such a short amount of time. 160 driving academy not only makes it easy to learn the knowledge, but to retain it, as well! I especially want to thank Joe Suedbeck! He answered every question, I threw at him, in a way that I could understand! I am definitely going to recommend this school/class to anyone interested in obtaining their CDL!
