For one student, enrolling in CDL training wasn’t just about starting a new job—it was about finding purpose, healing, and a fresh start.

At 160 Driving Academy, we know that our students come to us with more than just the goal of passing a test. Many arrive seeking a new beginning, a second chance, or a meaningful path forward. For Joshua Mulligan, the road to our Monroe location was paved with perseverance, faith, and a desire to serve with purpose once again.

After a rewarding career in law enforcement and later operating a medical transportation contract, life threw Joshua a curveball. He was forced to return to his hometown, and with that move came a two-year-long battle with depression and uncertainty. The search for a new career felt overwhelming.

But Joshua’s time in medical transportation planted a seed—one he couldn’t ignore. He had driven under pressure, with lives depending on his every decision. That responsibility, that trust, reignited a sense of purpose in him.

“That work gave me purpose again. It was a blessing to serve my community in that way, and I realized I had developed a real passion—not just for driving, but for driving with purpose,” Joshua shared.

That sense of calling led him to explore commercial driving. And that’s when he found 160 Driving Academy in Monroe.

From day one, Joshua was connected with Nicholas Fedio, Business Development Specialist, who became more than just a point of contact—he became a true advocate.

“Nick has been a constant source of support throughout this entire process. From helping me navigate CareerLink, to guiding me through obtaining my CDL permit and Medical Examiner’s Certificate—he’s been there every step of the way.”

Now, with the classroom portion complete and the driving phase about to begin, Joshua feels something he hasn’t in a long time—hope, direction, and excitement for what’s ahead.

“This is more than a CDL program—this is a new chapter, and I’m proud to say it starts here.”

We’re honored to be a part of Joshua’s story, and proud of our team—especially Nick—for being the kind of support system our students need.
